Strengths: |
The strongest part of my game is keeping a consistent mind set. It is an aspect I am conscious of in my everyday life and it transfers over perfectly into golf. Distance often helps me on longer courses reaching that are reaching 8000 feet or so, but believe me, distance is not all there is to playing a long course well. |
Training: |
I grew up in Spokane in front of a beautiful park where I would walk my dog almost everyday. Most of my early training happened here. Now that I am in college I have an empty gym at my disposal and a turf field that is lit at night. I bring my portable basket into the gym, putt, throw into the lacrosse nets and “work on my fitness.” Most of my practice happens at night so at 11:00 when the gym closes I go out to the turf and work on my longer game. Chip shots, drives, rollers, etc… Bellingham’s only course is really short but technical enough that I can get some good practice and of course, a bunch of fun pick-up rounds when I can find the time. |
Player Advice : |
Learn from everyone you meet regardless of their skill level. You can never stop learning new things. Mooch off of players skills; ask them about their shot after they do it. Find out how and why they made that shot. Watch videos. Play as many tournaments as possible. Be focused and determined to do your personal best, not on beating other players. Hit the field. Also, when traveling to a tournament it is essential you arrive early and take written or mental notes of the holes you are going to play. This can make the difference in winning or not in my opinion. |
Player Models/Influences: |
Steve “Stimpi” Simmons (my dad): My first sponsor, paying for me to play tons of events, plus giving me the experiences I’ve had.
Dan Pereyo: Being my practice buddy in the early stages and buying lots and lots of discs from me and then trading them back. Discs always fly better after he has used them for a while. Look for DP discs on eBay those are the goods.
Jay Reading: One of the nicest guys I have ever played with, makes me feel so good and does so much for the game of disc golf.

Personal Disc Golf Goals: |
Break the 1000 rating mark. Make 30 feet and in. |
Why Do You Throw Gateway and Why Should Other Players Throw It? |
I throw Gateway because these discs are so consistent in comparison to anything I have ever thrown. My dad owns a retail store in Spokane called Stimpi Ridge Disc Golf so I have been around every kind of disc on the market. Gateway drivers simply go further. The Wizard putts unlike anything else and drives much further, and between the Element, Element-X and Demon you won’t need a different midrange. Gateway keeps it simple and makes your game more consistent. Probably the best quality of Gateway is the variety of plastics. |
Outside of Disc Golf |
I have people in my life that I love so so much: Arlo, my dog; Steve “Stimpi” Simmons, my dad; Renée Roehl, my mom; Kelly Chadwick, my quasi-dad; Tara Ré, my sister; Christopher Ré, my brother-in-law; and so many other teachers, mentors and helpful, caring people who have touched me in my life. Thank you all.
I like to write, read, take pictures, film movies, knit, ride bikes, play tennis, hit the slopes, do some rock climbing, camp, playing card/board games, design web pages, play poker, go home for Christmas, cook for my girlfriend, swim at the lake, wakeboard, juggle, act, listen/play music, college in general. I attend Fairhaven College which is an interdisciplinary college within Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. I love the campus, the school and the town. College rocks!
